USING PICKLEBALL TO TRANSFORM OUR PRISON SYSTEMS

WHY PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is currently considered America's fastest growing sport, an unsurprising statistic when you consider the myriad health and wellness benefits of the game. Relatively easy to learn, pickleball is suitable for beginners and experts alike.

Not only does the sport offer socialization and fun, it can also be a great cardiovascular workout, helping individuals to stay in shape as they age. PICL–Pickleball for Incarcerated Communities League–aims to equip correctional facilities to provide pickleball play for incarcerated communities and to teach incarcerated individuals the sport.

HOW IT WORKS

We partner with volunteers and organizations across the country teaching pickleball at correctional facilities in their own communities. PICL helps provide training, resources, and equipment for volunteers and facilities to use to make pickleball a beneficial part of incarceration.

The PICL program works to train staff and incarcerated individuals to learn the fundamentals of the game and ultimately become passionate pickleball players that can create sustainable, lasting programs within facilities.
